Hi! I’m Zheng Weilin
I study Electrical Engineering as a AY24/25 (Year 1) year student.
More about me!
Hi I'm Weilin! A fun fact about me is that I prefer popsicles to ice cream cones🥹 and my pet peeve is the smell of smoking😬. I’m very interested in the bonding and welfare committee because I really want E-scholars to have more opportunities to bond with one another on a regular basis!! This builds a support system that E-scholars can rely on, especially since we are all majoring in engineering, and so we can relate with one another better and understand each other’s stress and concerns( for eg on a common engineering course). Being more familiar with one another also prevents E-scholars from feeling paiseh in seeking help from other E-scholars. 😂 Also, I understand that most E-scholars stay in RC4. For me, I stay in nusc but the friends I have made from the E-scholars orientation stay in RC4 so I’m really sad that there’s little opportunities for me to interact with them :(( Hence, I really want to join the welfare committee to help organise bonding events so that E-scholars can have many opportunities to bond with one another!! :))) Apart from this reason, I also want to be involved in preparing welfare packs so that I can help E-scholars feel less stressed and more encouraged during exam period. All in all, the first few friends I have made in NUS are from the community of E-scholars so I really feel strongly for giving back and contributing to the welfare of E-scholars. :))
Notable Achievements
- • When I was in junior college, I was a subject representative in class. I helped to gather feedback from my classmates ( for example, did they find the mode of teaching by our teacher effective/ did they find the homework given by our teacher too easy) and shared them with my teacher. I also helped to organise a class gathering whereby my class and our teacher came together to catch up and have fun.:)

- • While I was in my CCA- chinese orchestra (CO), I volunteered to be an orientation group leader during a musical exchange between my junior college’s CO and 2 other schools’ CO. I helped to organise ice breaker games to facilitate bonding among students from different schools in my group. At the end of the day, I was glad that the students in my group got to know one another better and had fun playing the games together. :D
Interests & Hobbies
- • I enjoy spending time with my friends, catching up on each other’s lives and understanding their current thoughts. Sometimes, I enjoy folding origami (eg hearts) according to YouTube videos and giving them to people I know :))) because I enjoy making them happy! Other times, I enjoy swimming/ jogging in a park.
